If a tooth cannot be saved or needs to be removed, perhaps due to overcrowding or impacted wisdom teeth, our dental team can perform cost-effective, gentle removals to alleviate pain and restore your confidence.

Tooth extractions at Tudor House Dental in CH3:

  • Treatment with Dr Ahmer Ali or Dr Giedre Valantine, who have a specialist interest and experience in complex extractions and surgical procedures,
  • Costs range from £99 for simple cases to £200-£250 for complex cases, and £475 for surgical extractions (wisdom tooth removal).
  • Pain-free removals are performed under local anaesthetic.
  • Simple single-step procedure and plenty of aftercare support.
  • Advanced, long-term follow-up solutions for patients seeking to replace a missing tooth.

At Tudor Dental, we offer extra-long dental check-ups to ensure there’s nothing that can be done to save your tooth and to explain your every option, including how extraction can best support braces after a consultation with an orthodontist, as well as your options to replace the tooth after extraction, like dentures, bridges or implants

“Very easy service to book online for an emergency appointment. I managed to get an appointment booked the next day for a tooth extraction with a small deposit. I found the team upon arrival very friendly and professional, the building was very clean, and the overall service was of a high standard and affordable too.”

When extraction is the right choice (not just for pain)

Patients can opt for tooth extraction for several different reasons. Booking one of our extended check-up examinations allows our dentists to assess your goals and recommend the simplest route.

  • Overcrowding for braces: Carefully planned removals with our dentists, as advised by an orthodontist, who has undergone advanced training to help our patients create more space in their mouths to align their teeth more successfully.
  • Non-restorable teeth: Sometimes, even our experienced dentists might not be able to save your tooth. In situations of severe decay or deep cracks where a filling or crown would not be successful, removal is often the best course of action to prevent repeated infections.
  • Repeated unsuccessful outcomes: If a root canal has failed, or re-treatment is not recommended, our dentists might recommend extraction for teeth that have a poor long-term outlook after undergoing multiple restorative treatments.
  • Problem wisdom teeth: Impacted wisdom teeth, pressure pain, lack of space or repeated infections might require tooth extraction.
  • Prosthetic planning: In some instances, our prosthetic dentists might recommend removing a failing tooth to improve the fit, function or timing of a denture, bridge or dental implant

Unsure if it needs removing? Book a check-up £72 (includes two X-rays). If we can save the tooth, we will. Call 01829 741284.

Tooth extraction costs

What’s included:

  • Diagnosis
  • The procedure
  • Pain relief advice afterwards

12-month interest-free dental finance is available for patients who wish to spread the cost of tooth replacement procedures, such as dental bridges, dentures, or implants.

Save it or remove it?

  • If the crack or decay is manageable and the tooth is strong enough to survive once crowned, you can opt for a root canal and crown to save the tooth.
  • It’s typically best to opt for an extraction if dental advice concludes that the tooth is not fixable, i.e., it keeps flaring up, causing you issues and pain, crowds your smile, or is part of your overall plan for braces, dentures, or implants.

If you do decide on tooth removal, you don’t have to worry about a gap being left visible in your smile.

While some patients may prefer to ignore a back-tooth gap, those who are not comfortable with the appearance of tooth loss or wish to restore bite balance can explore options such as dentures, bridges, or dental implants.

The tooth extraction process

Tooth extraction procedures can sound frightening - especially if you’re a nervous patient. But on the day, you’ll be completely numbed, where you’ll only feel pressure, not pain.

In simple extractions, the teeth tend to come out easily without issue. In cases of complex roots, extractions can take a little longer and may require a small stitch to close afterwards. But you’ll leave our clinic with simple aftercare notes and a direct number to call if anything worries you.

Most patients will return to normal within 24-48 hours, experiencing only slight discomfort after the procedure, which can be easily alleviated with over-the-counter medications.

After one week, the gums will completely settle and you’ll be used to the new gap in the mouth - but during recovery, it’s important not to run your tongue over the spot to not dislodge the clot.

  • Day 0 (today): No hot drinks, alcohol, smoking/vaping or strenuous exercise. Don’t rinse today.
  • Day 1-2: Rinse gently after meals with warm salty water. Eat soft foods; chew on the other side. Brush as usual, but avoid the socket.
  • Day 3–7: Gradually return to normal foods and activity.
