Can’t decide between braces or Invisalign? While only a free consultation at Tudor House Dental can tell you the best route forward, you can compare both treatments below, highlighting differences in treatment timelines, suitable cases, appearance, comfort, and cost. For more information, read our guide on Invisalign vs Braces.
| Comparison | Invisalign | Braces |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Straightens teeth using clear, removable aligners | Straightens teeth using fixed brackets and wires |
| Appearance | Clear and discreet, making them popular with adults and teens | More visible because brackets are fixed to the teeth |
| Treatment time | Can take from 3 to 12 months | Often takes 12-24 months |
| Comfort | Smooth plastic aligners that are easy to adjust to | Brackets and wires can rub or cause soreness after adjustments |
| Eating | Aligners are removed for meals, so there are fewer food restrictions | Hard, sticky or chewy foods may need to be avoided |
| Cleaning | Easier to brush and floss because aligners are removable | More careful cleaning needed around brackets and wires |
| Compliance | Must be worn for 20-22 hours per day to work properly | Fixed to the teeth, so compliance is not a worry |
| Suitability | Often suitable for mild to moderate crowding, spacing, alignment and bite issues | Often better for more complex tooth movement or severe bite correction |
| Maintenance | Aligners need cleaning daily and must not be lost or forgotten | Brackets and wires need regular cleaning and adjustment appointments |
| Cost | From £1,500 or £33 per month | Not offered at Tudor, but average costs are from £1,500 to £5,500 |
A loan of £1,500.00 over 60 months would cost you £33.17 per month at a representative 12.9% APR. The total amount of credit would be £1,500.00, to which we would add £490.34 (12.9% p.a.). This means the total cost of your treatment after 60 months would be £1,990.34. If you were to take out the loan today, you’d pay the first £33.31 upfront, and then 59 payments of £33.17 each month.
Initial free consultation (worth £75). £50 fully refundable deposit. Then, if going ahead with treatment:
That’s a saving of up to £1,420.
