Common patient concerns and FAQs

Yes, it can be. A lost filling can leave the tooth exposed to sensitivity, food trapping, decay and further breakage.

Keep the crown safe and bring it with you to your appointment. We will check whether it can be safely recemented.

In many cases, yes. If the crown still fits well and the underlying tooth is healthy enough, we may be able to clean and recement it at your emergency appointment.

If the crown no longer fits, or if there is decay or damage underneath, your dentist may recommend a temporary repair or a replacement crown.

Often, yes. Many lost fillings can be replaced in one appointment at Tudor House Dental Surgery.

Yes. We offer tooth-coloured materials and carefully match them to your natural tooth shade.

Common reasons include decay beneath the surface, biting forces, wear and tear, a cracked tooth, trauma, or an older restoration reaching the end of its lifespan.

Avoid chewing on that side until you are seen.

Extraction is usually only considered if the tooth is too damaged to be repaired.
