Dr Valantine’s is instructed when a tooth cannot be predictably repaired, and a more permanent replacement option may be needed. She focuses on stable, long-lasting fixed tooth replacements that blend perfectly with the rest of your dentition.
Tudor House Dental Surgery’s team regularly repairs broken, chipped and cracked teeth using white fillings, composite bonding, crowns and minimally invasive dentistry techniques. Where we can, we’ll repair your tooth, restore its shape, and preserve as much as possible in a single visit.
To understand how our dentists will typically treat your concern, match your symptoms using the table below:
| Problem | Symptoms | Treatment at Tudor | When to book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Broken Tooth | Part of the tooth has snapped, has rough or sharp edges, and you experience pain when chewing. | We smooth sharp edges, protect the tooth and rebuild the missing structure with a white filling, bonding or crown. | Same day advised |
| Chipped Tooth | Small chip, visible edge damage, tongue catching on the tooth and mild sensitivity. | We repair the chip with natural-looking bonding or a white filling, carefully matched to your tooth shade. | Within 24 to 48 hours |
| Cracked Tooth | Pain when biting, sensitivity to hot or cold and a visible line or fracture. | We assess the crack’s depth, protect the tooth, and may recommend a crown. | Within 24 hours |
| Broken Front Tooth | Visible damage, uneven edge, cosmetic concern and sensitivity. | We rebuild the tooth shape, colour-match the repair and restore your smile as naturally as possible, often in one visit. | Same day advised |
| Large Break or Lost Filling | Hole in the tooth, sharp edges, food trapping, pain or sensitivity. | We clean and protect the tooth, then restore it with a white filling, bonding or crown, depending on how much tooth is left. | Within 24 hours |

In many cases, yes. Small chips can often be repaired in one appointment using composite bonding or a white filling. If the chip is larger, you might require a crown, which can take a few weeks.
We carefully match the shade, shape and finish of the repair so it blends with the rest of your smile.
Avoid chewing on that side and book an emergency dental appointment. If the edge is cutting your tongue or cheek, you can cover it temporarily with sugar-free chewing gum until you are seen.
Yes. A cracked tooth can be very painful and is open to infection. You should call Tudor Dental immediately.
Not always. Root canal treatment is usually considered only if the nerve has become inflamed, infected, or exposed.
Extraction is only considered when the tooth is too badly damaged to be repaired safely.
Book an appointment as soon as possible. A lost filling or crown can leave the tooth exposed.
Keep the area clean, avoid chewing on the broken tooth and take suitable pain relief if needed. If you have a broken piece of tooth, bring it with you to the appointment.
Many repairs can be completed the same day, especially for small chips, sharp edges, lost fillings, and visible front-tooth damage (often within the hour).
Any x-rays required will be charged extra.
